C.E.D stands for the reasons of the settlement in Georgia. "C" or charity is a reason because the colony is meant for the poor, or in dept, people of England to have a chance to start a new/better life. "E" stands for economics. The Georgia colony was attempting to grow lots of crops to sell. Georgia was supposed to be very profitable. however, because of the heat and the hard red clay, the many attempts at agriculture failed. The third and last letter, "D", stands for Defense. The Spanish wanted to take over south Carolina because of the riches in the colony. Georgia was a buffer colony for the British military to simply slow the Spanish army down, so it wouldn't reach South Carolina. Or so that if they got there, they would be weak and not very large.
